Design takes front stage as GBK re-opens in Dubai Marina Mall
December 2014: After a summer of refurbishment and renovation, Gourmet Burger Kitchen recently re-opened in Dubai Marina Mall with a completely redesigned outlet.
The new design incorporates iconic elements from GBK’s outlets in the United Kingdom, such as the wooden entrance, brass overhead lighting and the chipped block wall effect which gives the restaurant a trendy urban industrial feel.
Adapting to regional customer preferences, GBK in the Middle East offers table service – something not found in the UK, and a variety of seating arrangements. From a quick lunch at the higher ‘communal table’ with stools to large family tables or intimate booth-type seating, GBK MENA caters to local preferences and tastes. Furniture has been sourced from Italy whereas the final design and interior work has been completed by UAE based companies.
The focus of the design is all about the customer journey, meeting needs in a casual, relaxed environment. The restaurant is open plan, without walls or greeting counters, and puts taste back into the hands of guests by providing a condiment station to add as much or as little as they like.
Whilst key design elements will be incorporated in GBK restaurants throughout the region, adaptations will be introduced according to location – such as changes in lighting styles, fabrics and woodwork colours used, and seating preferences.
It might be all about the burger, but who said you can’t eat in great design-led surroundings too.
Come back, and see what we have done!
